To be honest, when I saw what this book was about I thought “here we go again another diet book”. What I did not expect was total, brutal, raw, in-your-face honesty. So honest that I was glued to it. It really makes you stand back and rethink everything. I will be recommending this book to all because for me not to put a diet book down says it all! I will also be following Magic’s blog and Facebook community very closely .
I first met the author when she took on the role as my personal trainer when diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. This book enables me to have Magic’s strategies and encouragement at my finger tips. She is very open about the life events that lead to obesity and the struggles in developing the methods and psychology to achieve permanent weight loss, so I could relate to many of her issues. In all the topics Magic covers, it is written in an easy to understand format, equipping me with the knowledge to understand my body and myself. I am particularly impressed that ‘Stop being fat: love yourself skinny’ encourages me to look at what my values and needs are. This book is both practical and uplifting. I have someone to mentor me who has walked the journey.
I have known Magic for more than 16 years and when she told me she was writing a weight loss book I thought “Oh no not another one”, but knowing Magic this one would be different. Magic did not disappoint, this is a very informative and straight forward book that not only gives you options but explains why you have them. This is well written and easy to read and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone that needs it.
Magic’s book make perfect logical sense like no other book that I have read in the past. She gets it, the story that she shares shows the reader just who she is and what a painful journey she has undertaken to lose an astonishing amount of weight. Her story is authentic and respectful of the reader who is craving the same results as Magic. The MAGIC System is simple and do-able and gets to core of what is stopping weight loss for real! Her tasks got me to go deeper than I have ever before with any other book or program. My values have been put into question and I am re-evaluating what it is I really really want for myself and what results I intend achieving, with no questions asked. Stop Being Fat – Love yourself Skinny is a keep-it-simple-sweetie approach to a billion dollar industry! Watch this space as I too stop being fat and finally get to love myself skinny!

I first met Magic when I was preparing to walk the Kokoda track to raise funds for Autism research. The plan was to go to Papua New Guinea and walk the track. I had a few issues along the way in regards to my weight, my fitness and my own Autism. I’d tried other coaches and gyms but because of Autism, I found that other programs didn’t have the coverage for my needs. Magic was implementing the beta version of her MAGIC Portion Plate and combined with an exercise regime that was designed for me, I got into shape and lost weight. This made me happy to give Kokoda my best shot. I owe my success in Papua New Guinea to Magic’s help, education and mentoring. It’s great to see that she continues to provide help through her book.
I find myself nodding in agreement, crying at times and sometimes smiling at many of the things Magic was saying. I have been there, I have done that, and that has happened to me. I have known Magic for many years and have struggled with my weight not only in that time but all my adult life. I have lost weight and gained weight during his time. Magic’s book has come for me at the right time. I was ready to do things properly, no yoyo dieting, no fad diets or starving myself any more and with her asking me to read and offer my thoughts, I felt privileged but also inspired to get it right for myself now. After reading Stop being fat – Love yourself skinny, I have had that realisation that I’m not only sabotaging my weight loss but in doing so, I am not loving myself. There are also medical reasons that are causing some of my struggles. I thank you, Magic, for sharing your story and knowledge, and for giving me the tools to own my weight and start loving myself again. I am blessed to know you and to be given this opportunity. The hill ahead is a long and hard but with Magic’s words and support and my new found determination, I will get to the other side, enjoying my life with my family for much longer than I would be if I did nothing. Thank you my friend xx
